Alpha Thun

We chose the hotel for the view shown on Expedia, but were shocked to arrive and find no view at all. The room was pretty dated, with hostel-like beds, and on a hot day the fan they provided was broken. Breakfast was very basic, though the cafe lady was very nice. Anita at the front desk seemed a bit rude and not polite at all.

The location is quite nice and close to the lake, but the room quality felt too low for the price. The breakfast and restaurant staff were extremely welcoming and nice. What we didn’t appreciate was the receptionist. Across several interactions, she was cold and clearly annoyed, like she hated her job. Our booking included free local bus passes, but she never mentioned them.

The rooms were awful, and service was very poor. Gonzales and the lady in the cafe were the two exceptions, both very nice. Safety and cleanliness were at the bare minimum. I wouldn't give this hotel three stars, it deserves less than one.

The staff were pleasant, and our room was spacious, comfortable, and well looked after. We got a free bus pass on arrival, which came in handy with the stop right outside and buses every ten minutes. We were walking the Pilgerweg and took about 20 minutes by bus to Thun after walking to Uebeschi. Breakfast was fairly minimal, though there was enough to eat. We skipped dinner at the restaurant because we wanted to explore Thun. Our stay was perfect.
