The mountain view was magical, and hearing cowbells in the morning made this a really different kind of stay for us. Just plan your travel carefully: the last bus up leaves around 6 or 6:30 pm, and people, trains, and buses here are punctual. Missing it could mean paying about 50 francs for a taxi. It’s a pretty place, but it’s a ski resort, so visiting in the off season may not be worthwhile. Switzerland’s popular attractions are also a long way away.

We’ve been coming back for years, and the friendly, accommodating owner and staff are a big part of that. The studios have a rustic chalet feel, and the slopes are so quiet you can practically have them to yourself. For peace, nature, and lovely views, it’s hard to beat this spot in Portes du Soleil. See you next year!

The views are hard to match, and there’s lots to do if you’re into hiking, downhill skiing, parasailing, and things like that. You can just take in the surroundings, too.
