The rooms were nice, and the view was too. But breakfast was a letdown. We asked about vegan options, even just bread, and they mixed that up with gluten-free bread that contained milk powder. They had no vegan bread in stock. We'd told the hotel three times beforehand about our diet and they confirmed they could accommodate it. I don't expect everywhere to adapt to my diet, but I did expect the hotel to follow through. They could at least have told us in advance so we could bring our own food.

After a very rainy hike, the lunchtime deals really cheered us up. The food was delicious, the staff friendly, and the prices were great for Switzerland, especially given the location.

The owner's kindness was the highlight for us. We planned to cycle to the Creux du Van, but the weather made it inadvisable, so he offered to drive us there and back. We were very grateful for that level of hospitality. The hotel itself was lovely, with clean rooms, bathrooms and toilets, and very friendly staff. A very good stay with excellent service.

Dinner was delicious, and the location is great. The hotel has been newly renovated and was spotless. Our group of five all found the pillows very uncomfortable. Breakfast was also very basic, just a croissant, jam and coffee, unless you order a bigger one the night before. Still a very good place to stay, somewhere between four and five stars for me.

The lunch menu was good value and gave us enough food for a lovely 10k trek down the Areuse. The place is sunny and the service is great. My one criticism is that they don't really cater to vegans.
