Motel Vezia

The staff were very helpful and ready to assist, and the international breakfast was good. With comfortable rooms and adequate services, it feels like a good middle ground if you want to avoid the discomfort of staying in the city center. It’s an American motel-style hotel with 1950s furnishings, just a few minutes’ drive from Lake Lugano.

For the price, the reviews, and the misleading photos, I left very disappointed. I was only there for one night, and the warm, open, friendly welcome was the one good part. The bathroom was basic and very old, there was no shampoo, and I found mosquitoes. The wifi didn’t work either. My room was in a dark basement, with an old, sticky floor and thin walls that let me hear through them easily. There were also lots of strange men around, though I couldn’t tell if they were guests or just hanging about.

The staff were attentive, super friendly, helpful, and personable, with fantastic customer service. It’s also conveniently located for public transport and the city center. The whole place has an authentic 50s feel, from the furnishings and decor to the garages storing oldie/vintage vehicles. What a cool place!

The doors are thin, so you end up sharing more. From outside it may look like something, but it’s super practical and flexible. The USA diner experience is worthwhile, and the price is very good.
