Parkhotel Wallberg

The bus stop right outside and all the amenities were useful, including a safe and hair dryer. There was plenty of parking, and although there was no air conditioning, we could open the small window for fresh air. The WiFi was frustrating: it took nearly 15 minutes to connect at night, worked for only a few minutes, then was gone the next day. Our room and bathroom were small, with a little balcony, and the bed seemed to be only 180cm long. My husband is 186cm, so he had to sleep diagonally 😀😀😀. Hotel beds are normally 200cm long. Everything else was OK, but we missed a smile and a bit of hospitality. The man handling check-in, I think, spoke only German and Italian. I spoke English, but he kept replying in Italian, perhaps because he heard us speaking French. He was working in the restaurant at the time. He didn't seem friendly, and couldn't find my name on the booking list until he showed me the computer and I spotted it 😀 Breakfast was OK, with limited choice, but the service staff asked if I wanted coffee and eggs. She also brought cake to our table when I asked. No smile, but the service itself was good.

The restaurant is handy to have in the hotel, and the food was good, though a little expensive. The price felt reasonable for the services. It's a nice, quiet place. The rooms aren't large, but there's enough space, including a desk if you need to work. WiFi was very good.

The breakfast selection was poor, and the rooms, though OK, had no air conditioning. What bothered me most was the staff, who were rude and unwelcoming overall, apart from one young man. There was nobody at reception because the staff were also working in the restaurant. After a long journey, waiting on your feet before check-in is the last thing you need. There wasn't a hint of hospitality. Not worth it.

Joseph, our restaurant server who also looked after hotel guests, was fantastic, and the food was delicious. He suggested a Swiss Autumn favorite for me, while my boy had pasta. The service was impeccable, and I'd come back in a heartbeat. Thanks to all the staff and members of this great establishment! TCS put my son and me up here after a blowout tyre couldn't be fixed. The ADAC subscription had been well worth it. This was the end of our short holiday in Kloster, and I had to mention the hospitality.
