Hotel Engel am Bahnhof

The lake views made for a really relaxing meal, and the service was spot on. I had the celery, apple and shrimp soup, which sounded awful but was superb. My dining partner went for the cordon bleu. What a great find!

I love coming back for their soups, since there's always something new to try. We've been to the restaurant several times, and the food has always been tasty, with professional service. It's a classy place with a great location and a lovely view.

Fish and chips by the lake, then drinks and music in the bar, or a healthy meal in the restaurant from dusk till dawn. It's all here in one place. Service is mostly quick and good. Still, an angel deserves five stars.

This recommendation is for the Engel Bar, part of the Hotel. I haven't stayed at the Hotel, so I can't comment on it. The bar is cosy and welcoming, with attentive, wonderful staff. In my experience, there's a good choice of drinks, including Feldschlossen beers, wines, spirits and cocktails, plus tapas-style food. Sometimes local live bands play, drawing a loyal crowd. It's one of the best venues in Wädenswil, whether you're after a quiet place to meet earlier in the week or a lively bar toward the weekend. Wädenswil, a lakeside village on the Zürisee, has gained more good drinking spots in recent years, and I'd put the Engel Bar among the top few that have reinvented themselves lately.
