Parkhotel Schwert - Self-Check-in

The view and setting are lovely, and the waiters were friendly. Still, the tables were dirty and wobbly, and the whole experience felt overpriced for what we got. Our simple order of a burger and chicken wings took about 40 minutes. The food was decent, but nothing special. Three different waiters handled us, and they didn't seem well organized.

We've come here regularly for more than ten years, and it's sad to see the food quality slide while prices have climbed. The old favorites have changed: the all-you-can-eat wings are smaller and now come with a surcharge, the local sausage is about a third of its former size, often overcooked, and no longer brought out in its distinctive covered dish. The huge cordon bleu has become pretty ordinary too. Those dishes used to feel special and were among the best things on the menu. The place badly needs a strong head chef to refresh the menu with new choices and bring those classics back to life.

The lake view was lovely, though we couldn't see it from our room. The downstairs bistro served a pleasant breakfast that felt a little different from the usual hotel spread, but it wasn't especially impressive. The town is nice for a stop, while the hotel room was only about two stars, and the bathrooms especially need work.

The hotel was a good place to stay, and the elevator was nice. It's dated, but everything still works well. We could hear some noise through the room wall.
