Hotel Regina Wengen

After a day of hiking, the steam room and sauna were just what we needed. We also had a great meal with plenty of choice, and our room had a very comfortable bed and an outstanding view. The staff were professional and knew the area inside out. They gave us a coupon for the nearby gondola, which made for a great ride and view. I hope to come back. Five stars.

We had a lovely stay as a couple and will come back when we visit Jungfrau again. The mountain view was great, and we also enjoyed the view from the breakfast salon. Staff were kind, quick to help, and gave us all the information we needed.

The vintage elevator, with its old style gate, has loads of charm and history. The staff were friendly and professional, and the facilities are well set up. Rooms have good equipment, though the carpet looks dated. The duvet was awkward for me, too warm when it was on and a bit cold without it. The balcony is the real draw, with chalets on green hills and snowcapped peaks behind them. It’s a classic Swiss postcard view, and I can see why the place has become so popular with Chinese travelers. The property is very photogenic, and the restaurant has a traditional, upscale feel. Breakfast had plenty of variety, but the flavors were only average. Come for the historic atmosphere and balcony views, and maybe keep expectations for breakfast modest.

The location is lovely, and it’s not far from the train station. I wish I could have seen Hotel Regina when it was new, because it must have been glorious in its heyday. Now it needs a revamp. The room was spacious and comfortable, but very tired, with torn bathroom curtains and signs of mould. Some of the wooden flooring by the entrance was badly uneven, and there should be a step-free way in for luggage. We could hear people moving around overhead and in the next room. Breakfast was okay.
