Hotel de la Source

The room was a good size, with a comfortable bed, and the place was modern and clean. I liked the underfloor bathroom heating, though I wish there'd been a way to switch it off. There's no kettle in the room, but you can make tea or coffee in the breakfast room. Breakfast was okay, though I'm not sure we got 30 euros' worth. The reception team were friendly and got the lift working again soon after it stopped. Dogs are welcome, and there's lots of grass by the parking area for them to run around.

With the window open, traffic from the street was really loud. On the second floor, the balcony lights can't be switched off, which is frustrating if you want to sit outside or leave the window open at night. My room was dirty on arrival, and the rooms were very warm because the air conditioning didn't work.

The location is a little outside the center, but it worked for us. Rooms were decent, and breakfast was good. The staff were extremely friendly and professional. We couldn't leave the balcony door open because of all the smokers.

We arrived at 5 p.m. with our two kids and couldn't get into the hotel because the team had canceled our reservation after they couldn't charge my credit card, possibly due to a technical problem. They'd emailed me, but I hadn't used my phone while we were hiking in the mountains, so I never saw the message. I called the night concierge, who rudely told us to go find another hotel without explaining why we couldn't enter. There was no apology, support or help. The hotel should be more flexible and customer-focused, and offer a solution when a family is left outside.
