Chalet Felderhof

The chalet is just a two-minute walk from the station, and we found it a memorable, exciting place to stay. The rooms were warm and snug, the bathrooms had clean, warm water, and the kitchen was fully equipped. With a Coop supermarket nearby, we could make simple meals and eat in the tiny dining area. We also sat on the tiny balcony to admire the snow-covered street and alleyways. It had all the amenities we needed to be comfortable. A trip we’ll remember, and we’ll definitely recommend Zermatt to friends. It truly feels like a piece of heaven on earth.

Once you’ve collected your key from the dispenser, go farther into the chalet and up the stairs. Your room number is written on the door. There’s no elevator, and the chalet is next to a noisy train track. There’s no shampoo or body wash, just a bar of soap. The room on the fifth floor had a nice view, and the location is strategic. The free laundry is in the basement. The place was cosy, clean, and just right.

The kitchen was extremely well equipped, apart from a moka pot that didn’t work on the induction stove and the missing oven mitts. The nearest trash and recycling station is at Seilerwiesenstrasse 5, 3920 Zermatt. We had a great stay in the three-bedroom apartment on the third floor. We couldn’t see the Matterhorn from any of its multiple balconies, but the view was still great. The chalet was perfectly located, three minutes from Zermatt train station, two minutes from gonergrat train station, and three minutes from Zermatt mountain train station. That was ideal for our sunrise trip to Riffelsee. Most of the chalet was empty during our stay, so the only disruptive noise came from the gonergrat train going by. With the door closed, it wasn’t disruptive.

I’d stay here again for the location and the clean, recently updated room. Everything worked well. Finding the room was a little tricky because reception is somewhere else, and carrying heavy bags up to the fourth floor was rough since there’s no elevator.
