The host was really nice and helpful, and check-in was easy. The location is great, about five minutes from the train station. We’d definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

The host’s shady, sneaky attitude was the biggest problem, even beyond the lousy conditions. In replies to reviews, they claim the house rules and check-out details were communicated at booking, but that’s a lie, as the screenshot shows. Those so-called rules only arrive after you’ve booked, when cancelling would mean losing money. The Booking website shows no rules mentioned before booking. Saying they were communicated means nothing when the rules amount to dumping the host’s work on paying guests. Cleaning and taking out the trash are the host’s job, never the guest’s. Don’t dump your work on paying customers. As for the stay, guests are expected to clean, take out the trash, and strip the bed. If I wanted chores, I would’ve stayed home. The trash setup is ridiculous: you walk around holding a bag, then find they sell you one trash bag for 2.5 CHF. Check-out at 9:30 AM is absurd. The global standard is 12:00 PM, but here they treat you like a factory worker finishing a night shift and kick you out early. The older male host was kind and welcoming at check-in, but his wife was extremely rude and dismissive at check-out. How she treated me when I left ruined the whole experience. The Wi-Fi barely worked; even Google Maps wouldn’t load, and working was out of the question. It definitely wasn’t “perfectly fine,” as they said. The bed was awful too, far too soft, and you sink right into it. Hospitality in this area has become a joke. This place is a perfect example: they charge for everything, then blame the guest for complaining.

Chalet Medi has two rooms for four people, with a fifth person able to sleep on the living-room sofa. There’s just one bathroom, and the kitchen is fully equipped with appliances. The rooms, bathroom, living room, and kitchen were all clean. It’s not far from Zermatt’s inter-city train station and makes a comfortable vacation spot for family or friends. Rental prices are average for the Zermatt area.

My family and I visited in June of 2018 and found the place spacious and clean, in a great location in Zermatt. The kitchen is well appointed, and the COOP grocery store is a short walk away. Highly recommended. We’ll definitely book Chalet Medi again.
