Hotel Tannenhof

The bed was the main frustration for us. It was made of two single mattresses pushed together, and they tended to slide apart at night. The freshly washed linen also seemed to attract lint and little threads, and we found a few small hairs and fibers when we arrived. If you’re a cleaning freak like me, those things might be hard to overlook 😁 The breakfast tasted good but the choices were somewhat limited: fresh breads, boiled eggs, ham, and fresh orange juice, but no hot dishes like omelettes or porridge, and no vegetables. Fruit was only served whole, such as oranges and apples, which wasn’t as convenient to add to yogurt. The coffee wasn’t particularly good either. Fine for a short stay, but for a longer one you might want breakfast elsewhere. Slippers in the room would also be a nice touch. There were plenty of positives. The hotel is new and in a fantastic spot in the heart of Zermatt, about five minutes from the train station, with shops and restaurants around the corner. The main ski lifts are a convenient five to fifteen-minute walk away. Our room was small but cleverly laid out, with plenty of storage and a balcony with a great view. The bathroom was spotless, the shower pressure excellent, and the ski room had comfortable facilities and heated lockers, perfect after a day on the slopes. The stay was very enjoyable, and I’d recommend it for a reasonable price in a great location.
