Peaky Riders Self Check-in Hotel

The room was clean, the hot water worked, and the heating kept things comfortable on cold days. Internet quality was good too. Self check-in was quick and convenient, giving guests some autonomy. The bed was only reasonable and the pillows weren't comfortable. The shower timer lasts just 30 seconds, which gets annoying while showering. Breakfast isn't included, which may be inconvenient for some. Overall, practical and functional.

The balcony was a nice feature in my room, and the TV pulls out from its wall stand so you can face it toward the bed. Most live channels are in German, but there are some English shows, plus BBC and ITV. Great for watching Caught in the Act or Family Guy at night, lol. I liked being a little outside the center, about a 10-minute walk away, since it was more peaceful. The room was nice, and the shower pressure was amazing, though the sink had no water pressure at all. There's ski storage for every room, a good addition even though I don't ski. A kettle and microwave downstairs make it easy to fix a quick cuppa or food, and reception has a vending machine for snacks and coffee. The coffee is reasonably priced. There's an office on the first floor, so help seems close by if you need it. Check-in is easy, and you can encode multiple keycards.

I don't think I've ever given a hotel one star before, but this was very disappointing for the money. I paid 370 Euro per night and ended up with a bunk bed, something only mentioned in small characters during booking. The room was probably 2 m2, the smallest I've ever seen. Check-in and checkout are self-service, and nobody monitors the luggage, so anyone could come and take it. One vending machine took 4 CHF from us and the other was broken. We also got a threatening email saying checkout was at 10am and we'd pay a fine if late. If you don't leave, you pay 10 CHF.

We arrived in Zermatt at 10:15pm, and by 1:41am we still had nowhere to sleep. The hotel never sent the check-in email, even though they replied when we told them our arrival time. Their kiosk couldn't find my reservation using my name and departure date, and I tried every possible way and checked spam. Everything else was closed. Booking this hotel seemed like the easiest option, but it turned into a headache.
