Rhodania

The staff were delightful and helpful in every way, a real bonus. Breakfast was hearty, the rooms comfortable, and the showers easy to figure out. It's central to town and the lifts. We didn't have a mountain view, but the clouds were out anyway. Our small deck did have a nice view of flowers. We loved this hotel and would stay again.

Our room was clean and ready when we arrived, and the room fob was waiting for us. The staff were polite and helpful. We stayed two nights, Friday and Saturday, and found the walk from the train station to be about 10-15 minutes. It's also a nice short walk to the main street for food, drinks, and shopping. The beds were comfortable, the bedding warm, and extra blankets were available. The wall-mounted flat screen was easy to see from the beds and came with a remote, with local Swiss-German and English channels. The ensuite shower room was very clean, stocked with fresh towels and basic toiletries, and had good pressure and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was really good and set us up well for the day. If we return to Zermatt, this will be our first choice. Highly recommend.

Rhodania is about 10 to 15 minutes from Zermatt Station, and in just a three-minute walk you can get to the bridge for a spectacular Matterhorn view. When we arrived with heavy luggage, Diana quickly showed us to the lower floor for the lift. She and her teammates made us feel welcome at the hotel and at breakfast, always offering a few coffee choices. Breakfast was good, with a nice selection of fresh fruit.

It's a bit of a hike from the train station, and it took us a while to work out the city bus pattern. Zermatt is car-free, but there are lots of small vans driving around, so pedestrians should watch out. We liked the room, and once the construction next door is finished, the view should improve. Breakfast was excellent, as was the service from the house staff.
