The food made me sick, so I'd suggest eating elsewhere. The rooms and service were good, and the staff were very friendly. I still don't understand why the receptionist kept me waiting in the lobby while she checked the room.
The bed was very comfortable, the wifi worked well, and breakfast was generous, tasty, and filling. The staff spoke French and English and were helpful with every concern. At first, the bath water wouldn't get hot or even warm, and there was no toilet paper in the bathroom. Things improved by the end, though, and I'd stay here again when I'm in Abidjan.
I really enjoyed my time here and will definitely come back. Everyone was super friendly, especially Ble, Aurilie and Alex. The security staff at the entrance were always ready to help too.
I never felt unsafe, especially with the hotel's own security team. People at my office raised their eyebrows when I told them which district it was in, since the neighborhood isn't the best. I stayed for around 10 days across two trips in March 2015. The rooms were comfortable and well maintained, and the staff were amazing, friendly, and helpful. For a comfortable stay in a boutique hotel at good value, I'd highly recommend it.
Stephan, a driver connected with the hotel, took us around when we needed, for a separate, inexpensive payment. He was very friendly. The staff were accommodating and helpful, and our rooms and toilet were very clean. Detente hotel is worth reviewing.
