Freeman Hôtel

It's a decent, quiet hotel most of the time, though on some weekends the restaurant next door plays loud music late at night. There's no restaurant in the hotel, but they have a kitchen and can bring ordered meals to your room. It would be handy if they put a small kettle and cups in each room so guests could make tea or coffee whenever they like.

The room has the basics you would expect from a good international hotel, and the staff are kind and speak both English and French. Breakfast is simple, not fancy. The hotel is in the city center and easy to get to from the Main Airport ABJ. There's a restaurant beside it, plus plenty more on the street behind. I think I'd stay here again.

The aircraft crew had booked eight single rooms, and we'd received confirmation that the hotel would hold them and was expecting the guests. But after arriving in Abidjan and calling, we found out they would not provide the rooms we had reserved. When we asked why, we were told that we had settled people there. Don't pay this hotel in advance. Otherwise, you may simply be deceived and not get your money back. The people working there are unscrupulous and cheat. Be empathetic.

The breakfast was wonderful and generous. My room was excellent, clean, and well serviced, with all the amenities I needed, even a safe for valuables. The staff were friendly and helpful.
