The food costs quite a bit, and the portions are small. Still, the service is great, and this spot is a good place to recharge and find some quiet in a city full of noise and turbulence.

A relaxing stay in a beautifully designed oasis in Abidjan. The staff were lovely too.

We stayed in the Cape Town apartment as a family, and it was roomy and comfortable. The kids loved the pool, and they could play privately on the terrace facing the garden and pool while we watched from inside. The rooms were cleaned daily, so we didn't have to worry about things getting messy. I especially loved the apartment's skylight. Breakfast was so good that even though I'm not usually a breakfast person, I looked forward to it every morning. The staff were friendly and helpful, and as English speakers we were glad to find people who could assist us in both French and English. The garden was the real highlight for me, with its trees, sculptures, and places to sit. It was peaceful in the mornings, and the birds sounded like a soothing choir. We stayed there last December, and now that we're planning another family holiday, I keep thinking we may not find a luxury hotel as accommodating to our family as Hotel Particulier. It really felt like a home away from home.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely dinner and drinks there, and we asked both the manager and our server if we could come back the next day for a swim. They said it would be fine as long as we arrived before 6pm. When we returned, neither was working, and we were charged $80USD for one hour in the pool. Our server wouldn't acknowledge the serious mix-up. I understand the pool may be kept private for hotel guests, but being told we could swim for free and then facing such a high charge ruined our appreciation of the place. I had contacted the hotel beforehand with my concerns, but never got a reply.
