The breakfast pack was generous enough to feed four, and the rooms were spotless, with a small kitchenette and hot shower. Mati and Frances, the housekeepers, were so welcoming and even left us delicious sweet treats. The bungalows are right by the beach, where the sunset is spectacular. I loved relaxing in the hammocks among the coconut trees. At night, there are loads of stars, with no light pollution. Paparei also runs Koru cafe near the airport and Wokkai across the road. Give them a try.

We loved how private it felt, with sun lounges under the palms right on the beach. The beachfront location was excellent, and the beach itself was beautiful. Our bungalow was spotless and very comfortable. Vicki & Peter were warm, friendly, and so helpful. We were sorry to leave. Thanks for a great stay. Helen & Kevin

I spent a whole day stretched out in the hammock with a book, listening to the ocean. The beach was gorgeous, and I loved watching the little crabs and fish, especially the mud crabs that came out in the evening. All six of us stayed across both bungalows for four days. They were clean, comfortable, and nicely set up for our arrival, with fresh fruit waiting. We’d paid for breakfast and each morning got a lovely basket with fruit, bread, cereal, milk, jam, peanut butter, and butter. Our hosts were so kind and lovely. Highly recommend, and the photos say it all!

We wanted a beautiful place by the beach without paying for luxury, and Paparei was just right for us. It’s inexpensive and has nice rooms, a good bed, a little kitchenette, and a veranda overlooking the beach. The kitchenette isn’t for cooking, but you can order food from the dining room. Swimming is only a few steps away. It isn’t luxurious. There’s an expensive all-inclusive hotel on its own island nearby, connected by a short bridge, but that wasn’t what we wanted. Across the street, Alfie's is a small, really nice restaurant with delicious dishes. Crusher Bar is about a 10 minute walk into the jungle. Its owner, Rick, is very friendly, serves good meals, and plays guitar. I recommend Paparei.

A simple little no-frills place with friendly, helpful staff, a lovely garden, and a beachfront with hammocks and loungers. Great for watching the tide and sunset. The roosters are noisy through the night and in the morning.
