You get a stunning ocean view and terrace, plus the option to kayak, snorkel, or relax in a sun chair. Breakfast is included and convenient, and airport transfers are free. The staff were incredibly friendly, especially Valentina, who arranged a birthday surprise for my partner. It’s amazing value for money. The rooms are a little dated, but if that doesn’t bother you, this is a five-star location at a discount.

We split our stay between the beachfront unit for one night and a garden unit for the other two. Both have sea views, but we preferred the garden place for its extra room and privacy. Beds were comfortable, the rooms clean, and the staff friendly. The view was gorgeous, especially at sunset. The shower pressure was weak, and in Room 11 it took a minute or two for hot water to arrive, which isn’t ideal for conserving water. Not a big deal, though. Breakfast was simple but appreciated: cereal, milk, toast, butter and spreads, orange juice, and fresh papawai n nānana banana. We paid just under $1100 for four people for three nights, which was great value. We also love that it’s locally owned. We’d definitely stay again.

We loved this place. It’s a five-star location with two-star huts right on the beach, and we were happy with the simple, back-to-basics feel. It really felt like being a million miles away in paradise. The bed was comfortable enough, towels and sheets were clean, and breakfast was good, with a little basket of fruit, toast, juice, and muesli. The huts need a serious remodel, but they’re absolutely fine if all you expect is a place to relax. I’d stay again. Please feed the ginger cat and leave him clean water if you stay. We bought tins of tuna in spring water and fed him each night. He’s the sweetest cat and clearly desperate for human attention. You’ll need a bike or car on Aitutaki to get to shops and restaurants. We hired a bike. Bring snacks or whatever else you want, since you can bring anything with you.

The staff were the best part. Valentina at the front desk picked us up from the airport and was lovely and welcoming. Mu and an Indonesian guy from housekeeping were great too. They picked coconuts, opened them for us to drink the fresh water, and helped us rent a scooter. The balcony view was amazing, and the location is perfect. Wednesday night at the bar had a fun, friendly feel, and everyone was welcoming. The lodge does have some downsides: the room had bugs, the facilities were quite old, and the shower pressure was low. Breakfast was included each day. The taste was average, but there was a decent variety of fruit. Cat lovers should know there’s an adorable orange cat around the lodge. He’s neutered, sweet, affectionate, and well behaved. He might jump onto your bed, so keep an eye on him if you’re not comfortable with that. We really wanted to bring him home, but taking him to New Zealand would cost at least $5,000 NZD, which is quite a burden. Please bring him a little cat food and give him some love.

Lovely setting, but the place was poorly managed. Our room key broke, and they wanted to charge us the $50 lost key deposit.
