Castaway Resort

We came back on Boxing Day for another meal. The staff were lovely, and my partner was happy with his Alfredo, but our meals were a letdown. My surf and turf steak was chewy and tough, and didn't seem like the rib eye described on the menu. I couldn't eat it. On our first night back in Raro, we returned to our favourite island spot and ordered the seafood platter again. It was tasty, but no longer included crayfish even though the price was unchanged.

The view was the best part, though the cocktails, food, and music were all great too. Firaz was attentive and entertaining, and the team really looked after us. We'd accidentally booked a large table at Castaways Resort in New Zealand, then turned up here at Castaway, where they managed to fit us in. Such a lovely dinner.

The platter was still 130.00, but this time there was no crayfish and it was mostly deep fried seafood. The fish was dry and smelled bad. I was so disappointed, and worried I might get sick. I wouldn't give it even one star, and I'm never coming back. We'd been here two years ago and loved the seafood platter with crayfish, as well as the atmosphere. I was really looking forward to returning tonight.

Minnie was especially lovely, making me feel like family, and the rest of the staff were amazing too. I enjoyed the dogs, food, and drinks. The small, quiet hotel has nice updated rooms, including a flat screen TV, though I don't know why since there's just one unclear channel. Parking is on the street. I chose the ocean view on another business traveler's recommendation and liked looking out at the water. They leave bread, cereal, milk, bananas, and juice in your room, but there's no breakfast. I'm a morning person and would've liked a proper breakfast by the ocean. I'd stay again.
