We were lucky enough to spot a beautiful turtle while snorkeling right off the beach, and kayaks were available too. Bungalow 3 was brand new, fresh, spotless, and in perfect shape. The beach is just a step away, and there’s plenty nearby: a restaurant and car or scooter rentals are about a five-minute walk, while the supermarket and service station are around 15 minutes away by road or along the beach. The bus stops on the street every half hour, so it’s easy to explore the island. The gardens are walkable too, and both the Wi-Fi and air conditioning worked perfectly. The place also has a washing machine, which came in handy after our muddy hikes. We paid for a half-day late checkout on our last day so we could enjoy the beach longer, and it was well worth it. The only drawback was the bed, since my partner’s side wasn’t very comfortable. That’s why we’d give it 4.8 stars, but we’d happily come back.

The location is good, but this bungalow is poorly managed and needs better staff. The staff were rude, and the property’s own reply gives a pretty clear idea of how little they care about guests and how much they seem focused on making money. Don’t just charge people for a stay, make their vacation memorable too.

The house got so hot that we ended up sleeping on the living room floor instead of in the bedrooms. The air conditioner there was too small to cool the whole place, and the temperature in the room never dropped below 33 degrees, so we were sweating badly. The bedroom AC was undersized too. A technician told us he had installed it and had already advised the owner to get a larger unit, but the owner chose the smaller one to save money. He said there was nothing he could do. There were no curtains in the living room or bedroom, which meant no privacy and harsh morning sun in our faces. We covered the living room curtain rail with a blanket and put beach towels over the bedroom window. We contacted Islander Hotel, which manages the property. At first they said no one could come, then eventually sent the technician. When I called the property manager again to explain the problem, the woman on the phone kept complaining about previous guests’ reviews and saying they had enjoyed their stays. She didn’t address our concerns. We stayed last week, and the service was pathetic. The person managing the property seemed completely unconcerned. It feels like they only want to make money and don’t care about guests. I also can’t believe what happened after I contacted the hotel website I booked through. When I explained the problem, positive reviews seemed to appear to defend the hotel. Then the email asking me to rate it had a link saying I had already submitted a review, even though I hadn’t reviewed it on that website. So I had to post on Google. I can’t believe they would go that far. This place seems very good at astroturfing and generating positive reviews.

We really enjoyed our short stay. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the property was well appointed, and the deck was gorgeous. Finding the place was a hassle, though, because there’s no sign on the road. The bathroom door also has no lock, which felt unsettling, and it could use more hooks or hanging space. Better coat hangers would help too.

Everything we needed was provided, and check-in was easy. We loved the location and spent a week here, taking the kayaks out every morning.
