Pampaloja

For just 20,000 a night, this little place was amazing for Antofagasta. The kitchen is huge and has everything you might need, and the showers have hot water. Staff were kind and helpful, and there was room inside the front gate to park a moto or two. It's a short walk into town, with great ocean views, and I liked being away from the town centre. The walls are VERY thin, though. The only thing that bothered me was the gentleman next door talking on the phone until midnight. Apart from that, it was perfect.

The kitchen is a good size and open all day and night, and it's only a short walk to the town centre. The showers had excellent pressure and temperature, and the staff were very friendly and spoke English. The freight trains passing by didn't bother me too much. For the price, it's a very good hostel.

There's a minimercado nearby, as well as jumbo, and the internet connection was good. I also appreciated the roomy lockers, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and very friendly, helpful staff. It's a simple, clean Hostel and a great place to stay if you have your own agenda, especially since it's much cheaper than other places. This is a typical chilenian neighborhood where the houses are built together from whatever materials are available. It's mostly visited by Chilenos rather than tourists, though Antofagasta isn't much of a tourist city anyway. The hostel is fairly far from the terminal, but on the better side of town. A collevtivo will take you close for 570 pesos.

The staff were lovely and helpful, and the place was very clean. I'd stay there again.
