Chinchorro Eco Club Hotel Marina

The sea is just a few steps away, and the place is so peaceful I wouldn’t trade that calm for anything. It used to be a great spot for celebrations, but during the pandemic it’s mostly been used by the mutual insurance company to test mining personnel for COVID. I hope it gets back to its former glory soon.

There are good courts and equipment, and the sports complex offers a lot of variety. The bathroom let it down for me, though: the water pressure was very low and there was no soap. That’s why I’m giving it four stars.

The location by the beach is beautiful, and the hotel has a lot of space and good infrastructure. But the owners have let it go. Getting there means taking a dark, awful road, and the property feels abandoned, with no effort made to spruce it up. The rooms are mediocre and smell musty, probably because it’s so close to the sea. If you’re fine with that, go for the beach, not the hotel.

There’s potential here, but it needs investment. The bathrooms need work, and the different areas need clearer boundaries. Vehicles were in the way of the recreation spaces, and there were no signs or staff to direct visitors or keep things orderly.
