Hotel del Valle Azapa

The room change on arrival, because an event was happening at the hotel, made our stay less comfortable. The new room had no fan or mini-fridge. That evening, the restaurant shut earlier than usual for the same event, and clearly intoxicated people there made the atmosphere unpleasant. I went to reception to ask for a fork or other cutlery so I could eat. The owner was there, refused to help, and spoke very rudely. He was intoxicated too, which showed little respect for guests and a lack of basic hospitality. The receptionist could only follow his instructions. Breakfast was very basic and lower quality than I expected. The service, attention, and general standard of the hotel all left much to be desired.

For a short stay focused on resting and enjoying the northern climate and nature, this hotel works well. It’s close to the agro terminal and many places around the city, in a traditional Arica neighborhood. The facilities aren’t luxurious, but they make for a decent stay. A little more upkeep in the rooms would raise the standard.

The pool, trees, and location were lovely, and the rest of the staff were excellent. I’d only ask for the ladies at reception to be more helpful.

A pleasant hotel with lovely staff, a great breakfast buffet, and an excellent menu. I recommend it.
