Hotel Samaña

The location was really good, and breakfast was okay, but the rest let me down. The place is overpriced, and the staff showed little customer service: they didn’t greet us, and when I came down the next day for the taxi I’d booked to the airport, they had no idea about it.

The worst part was the window onto the shared passage. It didn’t close properly and could easily be opened from outside, so I had to keep everything locked in my luggage for all 3 overpriced days. I reported it at reception; they said they’d fix it, then said they’d do it that day, but nothing happened. That kind of promise with no follow-through felt disrespectful. The room also had no privacy, and the curtain didn’t block the hotel lights that stayed on all night. The sheets were stained and still had the same stains the second day. The beds had wheels that couldn’t be locked, so they kept moving whenever you touched them. The windowless bathroom was unpleasant. During carnival, the price was far too high. Breakfast had warm dishes only on Monday after the carnival, which made it seem like service wasn’t kept up when the hotel was busier. Apart from the location, things really weren’t okay. For what they charge, I expected much more. You can find much better in arica.

A reasonably priced, decent hotel in the city of arica. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the service was good. Everyone speaks a little English.

First impressions undersell the place. It turned out to be nice and clean.
