Staying here gave us an immediate welcome into the hospitable spirit of Chiloè island and its people. Casa chilota, right beside the water and the Cultural Center, has an excellent location. It's one of the most heartwarming hostels I've stayed in. We hope to come back!

Gabriel was an extremely nice and helpful host, ready to help with anything we needed. Everything was super clean, with a fully equipped kitchen and hot showers. Great location, good price, and an amazing stay. Best place in Castro.

It's worth staying here instead of in uncomfortable Quellon if you're passing through on your way to the ferry. I only had one night and wished I'd stayed longer. The kitchen worked very well for me, and my motorbike was completely safe on the property. The host was a super enjoyable guy who made me welcome as soon as he showed me in, and he recommended a beautiful route away from Ruta 5 with lots of views. Thanks for that. The place is hidden, authentic, and lovely, with a small garden right by the bay. The host and the whole place both have a calm feel. Spacious rooms are tastefully decorated to match the house, which is furnished with all kinds of sea-related artefacts.

We felt at home right away. The hosts made us feel welcome and gave us really helpful tips on what to do and eat in Chiloe. They take great care of the beautiful house, and served an awesome breakfast, probably the best we've had so far on our 3 weeks of travel. It was a relaxing stay in a peaceful setting, just right for resting up before our next hike. The lovely Traversia restaurant is only a 2 minute walk away, check it out. Highly recommended!

The kitchen and cleaning staff were a bright spot, and the breakfasts they made were good. My wife is shorter than I am and enjoyed the hostel much more, since she never hit her head. I did, several times a day, while wandering around lost in thought. The bathroom doorway has unpadded, very sharp wood, and the ceiling in our room was about 1.90 meters high, roughly 6'02". I got several cuts on my scalp. Otherwise, the house was fine. How much you like it probably depends a lot on your height.
