Parrón de Colores

It's in Ñuñoa, a safe, expensive district, but a bit far from the main areas. There's a metro station nearby, so getting around is easy. Private rooms cost about what dorm beds do elsewhere, which is a great deal. The building is colorful and really nice, and the staff are helpful. You get warm showers, a big kitchen to use, and breakfast with two eggs per person. Free laundry and bikes were my favorite perks.

The neighborhood is peaceful and pretty, with a mall and metro station close by. I stayed at Parron de Colores two years ago and still remember what a good stay it was. Best hostel in Santiago, with a great space and nice people.

I had a bad experience and wouldn't recommend staying here. The room was just 4 square meters, unlike what the Booking listing showed, and the location is far from the city center. The pool cleaning also concerned me: they used cleaning products and put the waste straight back into the pool, so you end up swimming in dirty water and cleaning products. There was a floor clamp with a very strong, horrible smell, especially unpleasant for someone with allergies or allergic rhinitis. I asked to cancel half of my daily rates so I could move to another place, but they showed no interest in helping.

I teach English online while traveling, so the very strong Wi-Fi was a big plus. The rooms were comfortable and had oscillating fans, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It's a really quiet neighborhood, yet shops, restaurants, and transport are convenient to reach. Very comfortable and peaceful here. I absolutely recommend it.
