Hotel Santa Lucia

The location is really the main thing going for it. My room, 409, was just steps from the front desk, and the bed had someone else's hair on it. I couldn't put my things in the closet because the smell of paint was so strong. The room faced the street, so there was traffic noise, but for one night I could deal with that. I'm pretty sure the front desk person knew the construction next door would start up again on Monday morning. That was unacceptable. The staff were kind, and they held my backpack after checkout so I could walk around comfortably before going to the airport. But I wouldn't stay again. It wasn't comfortable or quiet enough for a longer, relaxing stay.

I meant to book in Santiago, Spain for a 30-day walk, and was excited to reserve the final day. Instead, I accidentally booked Santiago, Chile for mid-May 2026. I sent a cancellation request just 10 minutes later, but the hotel initially refused to cancel without a penalty despite having over four months' notice. I couldn't get the issue resolved at the time, and felt I had no choice but to warn other travelers about how cruel they were. Then everything changed. Santa Lucia management sent me a message, which you can see below, and canceled the booking I had made by mistake. I really appreciate them following up.

The rooms were nice, though they could be improved. What stood out was how kind and generous the staff were throughout our trip. They were really helpful and shared lots of hidden gems around the area.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. One of them even walked us to a restaurant they'd recommended, and they held our luggage and helped arrange transport. For the price, I'd consider staying again, though for several nights I'd want somewhere more comfortable. We stayed one night at the Santa Lucia Hotel, on the fourth floor of a shopping mall. The decor is unusual, and entering reception feels a bit like walking into an office. Our small, basic room faced the main street, where we could hear every vehicle and many of the conversations outside. It was very noisy.
