Las Bandurrias Eco Hostal

The shared living room and kitchen, the view, and the great deck made this our favorite place in Southern Chile. It was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. There are four or five guest rooms, and while we were there another outdoorsy family was staying too, which gave us a nice chance to socialize a little. The host, who is from Switzerland, was great, informative, and attentive. She also offers a tasty breakfast for an extra cost.

Ignazio, who organized things for us, was attentive and very friendly. He gave us helpful suggestions for restaurants and things to see and do nearby. The accommodation itself was lovely, spotless, and cozy, with a breathtaking view.

There’s no Wi-Fi, but being outdoors in Chile gives you a chance to make a better connection with nature ;) Sylvie and Manuel are super kind and helpful. If you ask, they’ll pick you up at the bus stop in Cochamo, and can arrange paid rides to the Cochamo Valley trail head or Puerto Montt airport. Sylvie will even get up at almost any hour to make breakfast for early birds, with homemade bread and fruit salad. The hostel is lovely and eco-friendly, with showers heated by solar radiation, and it sits in a beautiful natural setting.

The views were lovely, and it was quiet, with beautiful rooms and a generous breakfast. You can start the Mirador hike right from the back door. Sylvie was super helpful and full of information. Thanks, Sylvie, and Noah, my personal Mirador guide :)
