The breakfast was excellent, and the staff were attentive and friendly. The hotel could use some modernization. I'd add key cards for room access, check that the windows close properly, replace the curtains, and provide safes.

Everything else was fine, and breakfast had quite a bit of variety. The hotel is older and seems to have been maintained to keep its character, but the noise inside and out could be improved.

My weekend here was ruined by the condition of the hotel. The parquet floor was loose, with planks out of place and piled in a corner. The next day some pipes burst, and it was clear maintenance hadn't been done. I waited until midnight for a shower, then had to leave because my stay was only for the weekend. Technicians showed up but had no idea what was wrong or when repairs would be done. The "manager" didn't know what was going on, not even the condition of the rooms. The bathroom was a mess too: awful old shower curtains, and a broken showerhead sprayed water everywhere and soaked the floor. The mattresses were thin and uncomfortable. There was no policy for compensating guests for all the trouble. Breakfast was fine.

The people working there were really friendly, and the breakfast buffet had plenty of choices. The room and bathroom were fine, too. But the place needs a lot of upkeep: peeling wallpaper, an old neglected hallway floor, and no heating or air conditioning in the rooms. There wasn't even an outlet in the bathroom for a hairdryer, as the photo shows. If the restaurant was shut, guests couldn't get tea or coffee at reception, and on a Sunday afternoon there were no nearby cafés open despite the central location. A kettle, cups, and a small supply of tea, coffee, sugar, and sweetener would be easy to provide.
