The fishing in the beautiful waters was plentiful, and Diego, Ben, Daniel and Huff were patient, excellent guides who taught me a lot as a beginner fly fisherman still on the steep part of the learning club. For a week, Vista Patagonia felt like one big family. The whole experience was amazing, from the comfortable, well-done accommodations to Chef Claudio's inventive cooking and amazing meals. His food is "really good"! Diego and his team were wonderful, and I understand why. I arranged the week through Jonathon Neymen, owner of the FlyBox in Bristol, TN, and have just returned to my home in Kentucky. I can't wait to come back in 2027. Gracias, amigos míos! Un tiempo fantástico juntos. Nos vemo el año que viene!

You can fish a small creek on foot, float a bigger river, or head out by motor on a huge lake. The fishing is varied and good, and we caught fish in all those places, often on dry flies. The lodge itself is modern, clean, comfortable, and intimate, with the things you need. The food is a standout: guests and local guides say it's the best among the area's lodges, and maybe nearly anywhere. I keep bringing guests to Vista Patagonia because it delivers a great trip at an affordable price. If you're after good trout fishing with a first-class lodge stay, this is the place.

The views from the rooms and dining hall are stunning through that huge wall of windows, and the woodwork and modern lines make the quality of the materials and appliances obvious. The four rooms suited our close-knit group of eight perfectly. We ate very well, from excellent classic pastel del Choclo to poached salmon, and enjoyed the wood-fired pizza oven, stocked bar, great pisco sours, and music system in the lounge. There's also an Asado cross for cordero, plus hangers, shelves, and racks for biking and fishing gear. The internet and Wi-Fi worked great. Diego and Macarena deserve congratulations for building such a welcoming, classy lodge in Coyhaique. After 13 years of fly-fishing in this part of Patagonia, we already knew Diego as a great guide, and this year got to stay at the new lodge he built with his wife. We had a fantastic time and will be back. The only trouble was how hard it was to leave those luxurious beds and comforters in the morning, and the same goes for the fantastic high-volume showers.

I've stayed at several destination lodges over the years, and this one really stands apart. The views, guides, and food were among the best I've had. Highly recommend.

Diego and Maca have made a wonderful, distinctive experience for guests and friends. Whether you're at the lodge for a few nights or spending weeks fly-fishing, the little details and extra effort make this place stand out. The lodge feels intimate, is beautifully designed, and is incredibly comfortable. The prepared food is exceptional, the drinks are cold, and the staff make you feel like family. Maca is one of the loveliest, most gracious hosts I've known, personally or professionally. Diego is the best guide I've ever had, and his junior guides are excellent and learning from him. As you'd expect in Patagonia, the fishing water and fish quality are world-class. My stay was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. I'll be back soon for the Patagonian landscape and people, and to see the new friends I miss already.
