Cabañas Pacifico

We got a helpful overview of the island at check in, and the hosts were great. The property is lovely, with the ocean and moai only a short walk away. Renting a car from them made it easy to explore and go into town. Walking to the shopping and tourist area takes a while, but it can be done without a car. There’s no breakfast, though we had no trouble making our own meals in the kitchen, which had the usual cooking utensils.

Eduardo and his family are among the best hosts I’ve met. Their hospitality is a model for others.

Our family trip to Cabañas Tokerau in Hanga Roa was a disaster, far from the peaceful stay we expected. The online photos were outdated, and the cabins looked old and seriously neglected. A strong bad smell from the bathrooms hit us when we arrived, and the place seemed poorly cleaned and run down. Wi-Fi never worked, despite being listed as an amenity. The owners gave us wrong or misspelled passwords, then disconnected the cable after eventually giving us one. Outside, dog feces were left around with no effort to clean them up. Rain came through the cabin roofs, which seemed to be a known problem and was ignored. The floor showed the leaks weren’t new, but the husband said he knew nothing about them while the wife said they were “monitoring” it. That felt like a blatant lie and made the disappointment worse. We got nowhere with the owners, who seemed unprofessional and dishonest even over Wi-Fi access, and showed no regard for guest comfort. The AC in one of our cars also didn’t work. I felt the place was more interested in deceiving guests than giving them a memorable stay. I wish I could give zero stars, and strongly advise people to avoid Cabañas Tokerau. There are more authentic, welcoming options nearby that deserve your time and money.

Yvonne and Eduardo welcomed us so warmly. They met us at the airport and helped arrange and book our excursions each day. They know the island inside out and gave us advice we really valued. The Cabañas sit in a lovely garden, close to the center but still quiet. We highly recommend them.
