I was traveling alone as a 64-year-old woman and found the location, bungalow, and shared spaces safe and clean. Ricardo or Macarena came by every day. Both speak English well, and I had Ricardo’s number and email in case anything came up. There’s filtered water in the common area. The breakfast restaurant is right nearby and stays open into the evening. It looked like the cleaning staff lived next door, so there was someone to contact if needed. It’s a beautiful spot, and you can walk around Rapa Nui from there. The 5 Maoi are a short walk away and lovely at sunset. Pea Beach is across the road; to the right of Pea restaurant when facing the water, there’s a small beach area with 3 turtles. One was very curious and seemed to enjoy checking out tourists. Enchanting! The restaurant where breakfast is served is wonderful, and the people there are lovely. A shout-out to Favian, his beautiful wife, and daughter. Such a nice family. Bring earplugs. There are lots of chickens, roosters, and dogs all over Easter Island, so you probably won’t find a quiet place to stay. I had a couple of days without hot water, but Ricardo fixed it right away. On the second day he suggested I might be turning the faucet the wrong way. I’ve taken showers around the world and at camps for many years, and knew to try the other direction after waiting five minutes with no hot water.

The room was comfortable and clean, and the hotel is just steps from the coast, cafes, and restaurants. The sunsets there are beautiful. What made my stay in Rapa Nui was Ngahu and Katty’s hospitality. Katty is one of the kindest people I met on my travels, and she clearly cares about making guests’ stays unforgettable. Whatever I needed, she was there to help, including taking me on a private, secret tour off the beaten path. Thank you again, Katty. Rapa Nui will stay with me forever.

Katty went above and beyond, and her whole family was so friendly. From airport pick-up and daily breakfast to the room, kitchen access, and Katty’s brilliant recommendations, everything was wonderful. I couldn’t fault a thing. I was sad to leave the beautiful island, and just as sad to leave this magnificent accommodation. An amazing stay in an incredible part of the world. Thank you so much, Katty!

It’s been about two years since my girlfriend and I stayed here, and we still think about the place often. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. The wifi didn’t reach our room, but it was easy enough to walk over to the office and sit outside. I’ve seen people mention there’s no breakfast, but there’s a great breakfast spot about two blocks up the road, and it’s a pleasant walk.

The room is nice, with the feel of an Airbnb or bed and breakfast. There’s a shared kitchen with basic supplies, a fridge, microwave, and toaster oven. Breakfast is included at a small restaurant nearby. The staff are friendly and check in daily by WhatsApp to ask if I need anything, though they aren’t always on site. I asked if they could mail some postcards while the post office was closed, and gave them money for the stamps. I’m still waiting for the cards, and they didn’t reply to my WhatsApp after I left. Since then, I’ve tried WhatsApp, Expedia where I booked, and email, but still haven’t heard anything about the postcards or the stamp money. I know it was a favor, but they shouldn’t have agreed and taken my money if they couldn’t do it. I’m very disappointed that my loved ones and I won’t receive postcards from such a remote place. It’s definitely affected how I feel about their customer service.
