Hotel Diaguitas Illapel

The rooms are spacious, and the hotel’s location is excellent, but the parking setup is poor and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. In our room and bathroom it seemed they’d only made the bed and folded the towels, without properly cleaning or sanitizing. We also found a staircase blocking the way to room 306, and no towels in the rooms, which we had to go fetch, even though we’d booked well in advance. At breakfast, the food was poor and lacked variety, though the person serving it was attentive and helpful. The check-in staff were attentive, but some other people at the hotel were rude and unfriendly, and I never knew what their role was. They made us move our vehicle to let SUVs belonging to their “frequent guests” come in, then told us to fend for ourselves. One employee said those guests were regulars, so they could have been notified in advance. I don’t recommend this place.

The only good part was the woman making breakfast, who was friendly. Otherwise, I really don’t recommend this place. I came for work and slept badly because the noise was constant in my first-floor room. People kept using the stairs from as early as 6:00 AM, and the vans were loud as they drove off, with no consideration for anyone sleeping. The bathroom water kept running, and the water heater was right next to me. For what they charge, the place is run-down. On arrival I found a dirty room, a couple of spiders and several moths, and ended up buying antiseptic from a nearby store. The cleanliness was terrible, and the staff who greeted me on the first day were quite unpleasant. I left disappointed.

The room was fine otherwise, but there was a ladder right above the bed. I could hear footsteps, people talking, and bags opening and closing all night. The stay was very good apart from that.

The breakfast was poor, and the bathroom was horrible, with a very small shower stall. The hotel is next to a school, so we woke up to children screaming. The windows had no ventilation.
