The breakfast is the hotel's best feature, and it's plentiful. The food has always been good too, with a limited menu and home-style cooking. The place is geared toward mining workers. The room and sheets were clean, but it needs attention to small things: several bulbs were burned out, the shower drain was completely clogged, and the room chair felt unstable, like it might break. The TV has cable, though they should replace the old-fashioned set-top boxes.
It looks elegant, but the stay was mediocre. My shower stayed clogged for three days, even after I told reception, and the bed linens had stains from a dubious source. Two stars don't feel like enough.
It's a relatively quiet place, but breakfast has no vegetarian options. The parking lot is small, and there's always a car blocking the exit. In an emergency, that could be fatal. Reception staff on the day and night shifts don't seem to communicate about it, so you have to wait for the other guest to get up, shower, and come out to move their car. The bathroom gets very hot because it has no natural light or ventilation. The spiral staircase also feels somewhat dangerous.
The service was excellent. Breakfast would have been perfect for me if it had been a buffet. I'm not a big eater, but I didn't like feeling “forced” to eat. We were two people, yet they left only one set of towels, so we had to ask for more every day.
