Cabañas Quillay Viejo

The stay in the Litre cabin at Quillay Viejo for New Year's was really unpleasant. The cabin was farther from the lake than we expected, and the facilities felt very makeshift. We went hours without water, and still had none the next day. The beds smelled bad, the living room and furniture were horribly dirty, and hot water barely reached the bathroom. The barbecue area was also dark at night.

The property is lovely for getting away from the city, but plan to bring supplies because there are no shops nearby. Getting in was a mess: the place is large, there were no signs, and the electric gate needed someone else to open it. We waited outside for over half an hour, unsure where we were or how to enter, while Ms. Ana in Santiago didn't give clear directions and then didn't answer our calls or WhatsApp messages. Mrs. Miriam and Mr. Francisco made up for that with a warm welcome and clear, kind help. A 4x4 is important for driving around the property. We were fortunate to have the first cabin down the slope, but even our truck slipped quite a bit. A cabin closer to the lake would have been harder to reach. The setting itself is wonderful for resting and relaxing.

The cabins are lovely and well equipped, and there's a full lake with kayaks available. Just be aware that access to the lake is the drawback. You need a 4x4 to avoid climbing what feels like endless stairs to get to the Litre cabin.

A great spot to get away from the crowds and noise. The scenery is spectacular, the cabins are well kept, and the location is excellent. There are lots of stairs, so you'll get some exercise.
