The view of the Pacific was lovely, and it was quiet at night. I also liked the deck, and the 20-minute walk into town helped me shed a few pounds. Still, I regret spending five days here. I stayed in the top cabin, which felt unkempt and rustic. The chair cushions and shower curtain were torn, the towels stained, and the sliding door wouldn’t close, letting cold air in. It was too cold to safely run the propane heater overnight. There were no instructions for the WiFi name or password, and the knives were dull. A new manager or owner is coming in, so perhaps they’ll have more time to devote to the cabañas.

When we arrived at Buena Vista Cabanas, the owner said she had no reservation for us. We showed her the confirmation email and number, but she replied, “I never got that. Sorry.” She wasn’t apologetic or willing to accommodate us, and said it was our fault for booking the wrong dates. We showed her the confirmation again. After we persuaded her to help, she took us to a different set of smaller, more expensive cabanas. She agreed to refund the price difference, but tried to leave without doing it. I reminded her, and she said she’d take care of it. She did not. It was an incredibly poor experience. Be aware of the ethics, or lack of them, at this establishment.

It’s a cozy place to get away from the stress of the city, and Gloria, the owner, is very kind and friendly. Her dog Flash Gordon is always around for a visit and is so sweet. The chickens are adorable too, and they’ll eat all your organic waste. Highly recommended.

Perfect for unwinding. It’s a cozy place in a good location, and the staff were excellent. We’ll miss Flash the dog and that delicious hot tub!

The hosts are always attentive, and there’s a wonderful hot tub on the property. These excellent cabins are fully equipped, so there’s nothing you need to bring along. They’re a great place to disconnect and relax, with a stunning view of the beach.
