Cabañas El Chagual

The stay was comfortable, and the service was really friendly. We went as a couple, and they even offered us oil, salt, toiletries, an onion to clean the grill, and leftover charcoal for a barbecue. Our cabin sleeps up to 4. The kitchen had enough utensils, but only two burners and no oven. There’s a wood-burning stove inside, and the bed was warm and very comfortable at night. The tap water tasted good, even better than bottled water. The fridge thermostat needs adjusting so everything doesn’t freeze. It’s a group of cabins sharing a pool, and we paid 50 soles per night. Nearby you can visit a viewpoint, walk to places in Los Lleuques like La Playita, or explore Salto Chico. Buses come about every half hour, and being close to Highway 55 makes getting around reasonably easy. One thing to keep in mind for summer trips to rural Chillán: 30° Celsius in Chillán doesn’t feel like 30° in Santiago. Pools and rivers, especially rivers, can be very cold even at 3 pm, and you’ll need warm clothes at night. There’s plenty of dust around, so expect to get quite dirty. The countryside is like that.

We stayed during winter break in July 2025. Mrs. Mabel, the owner, provided excellent service. The cabins are cozy and sleep 5 people, with hot tubs available on request. Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable and in very good condition, with several blankets. The bathroom and kitchen suited the cabin well. Hot water was perfect, and the refrigerator was very good. We used the grill for a barbecue, and there was a good wood-burning stove. Cable TV was available.

The owner is very friendly and cordial. These well-equipped cabins are a good place to unwind, with a pool for cooling off in summer and native trees all around. They’re one block from the main avenue, and the cabins are a very good standard.

The cabins felt cozy and comfortable, and the owner was so friendly. What really impressed me was how clean everything was. For once, I didn't feel like I had to go around cleaning with bleach.
