Park Plaza Bonaparte

The courtyard and pool were nice, and the location was convenient. Beyond that, I don’t think the hotel deserves its 4-star rating. Our stay was disappointing. The room felt cramped and dated, with just one pillow on the bed and no proper duvet, only a blanket between two sheets. The towel and shower curtain were stained, water pressure was very weak, and the room stayed uncomfortably hot because the AC didn’t work properly. The curtains didn’t cover the whole window, so there was little privacy. Breakfast options were very limited, and the hotel seemed geared more toward locals. We didn’t see many tourists. If you only need somewhere basic to sleep and aren’t fussy, it may be okay, but I’ve stayed in better-maintained hostels. It needs a major update to justify calling it 4-star.

Sofia gave us clear, thorough instructions about where to go and how to get there, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I spent a whole week at this warm and welcoming hotel 🏨. We’d definitely stay at Bonoparte again, and I strongly recommend it! 👌

We had booked a second night in advance and couldn’t get a refund, so we ended up waiting on a spare bed while the cleaner and receptionist cleaned our room at 11 pm. Before that, I asked for a softer bed and fresh sheets, but the replacement room wasn’t clean either. There was human hair all over the bathroom, and I could feel every coil in the bed. The receptionist showed my partner and me two other rooms, but those also had hair throughout the bedrooms and bathrooms. On our first stay, the bed had been rock hard and the sheets felt like cardboard. The hotel also hosts weddings and lets attendees party until 2 am, which kept guests awake. The outside looks quaint and historic, but that’s about the only thing going for it. It wasn’t good value, and in hindsight I’d have chosen a better-known hotel brand.

The location is great, but the place is showing its age and didn’t match the photos or descriptions. The room was only just clean enough, with no sofa and no coffee or tea. Toilet paper is rationed. The shower and curtain had mildew, and the towels looked dingy. Not sure they know about bleach.
