Hotel Mae

Mae hotel should invest in serious staff training about good hospitality. The food is below average, to put it kindly, and the staff seem unwilling to help. It felt obvious they couldn't be bothered to do their jobs and were trying to sell the most expensive plates on the menu. Don't come here. It's a waste of time and money.

We stayed for two nights. The dinner was good, and breakfast was good too, though I expected a little more from what is probably a 4* hotel. The staff were nice, but after breakfast they started moving our table to gently signal that we should leave. After dinner they asked whether we wanted anything else or not. I understand they have work and preparations to do, but as a guest I found this annoying. The reception contact was frustrating too: they replied very late through Booking and sent meaningless messages saying we hadn't paid in advance, which wasn't true. We might return one day, and I hope these things get sorted out.

It's a nice place, but the cleanliness is awful. The towels and bed linen were dirty, and the hot tube was dirty and broken. Be careful, the pictures aren't reality and you may end up paying extra for an upgrade because of false advertising. For the room prices, there are definitely better options nearby.

The beds and Wi-Fi were very good, and the hotel has beautiful ocean views. But it's overpriced and doesn't seem ready to host guests: the pool and spa weren't working, the rooms are small and basic, and there was no refrigerator in the room. Construction was going on outside our window. We had some trouble checking in, though it was resolved fairly quickly.
