Hostal Emalafquen

I had a terrible stay. The owner seemed annoyed whenever I asked for toilet paper, and I constantly felt like she was monitoring every move and didn't want me there. The kitchen was extremely dirty and looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned in years. The soup dispensers had only water, and we found bed bugs. On our last day, we were thrown out of the house. I've never had a worse experience anywhere.

We felt at home here. Ema was friendly and really helpful, and the rooms were comfortable. Towels, coffee and tea, and use of the kitchen and WiFi were included. It's also super close to the bus terminal, which was a godsend. I'd recommend it to anyone!

The beds were comfy and the rooms spacious, but there was no A/C and they got very hot. The showers switched between very cold and hot water, and one stopped altogether while I was showering. It was noisy too, though I guess that's common in Chilean hostels with thin walls. We had bed bugs, a nightmare, and on checkout day Ema kicked us out straight away. We weren't even allowed to make sandwiches for our 10h bus ride to Santiago. She seemed unhappy if we asked for extra toilet paper or cooked in the rather dirty, unpleasant kitchen. DON'T GO HERE! There's not much good to say about this hotel. Better find somewhere else than stay with this old grumpy lady.

The owner was friendly and accommodating, and it was quiet. The bed was comfy, the WiFi strong and fast, the shower great, and there was loads of food for breakfast. It's right by the bus station too. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that the place isn't heated, so I wanted to stay bundled up in bed all morning!
