Wyndham Santiago Aeropuerto

The hotel was overbooked and had no room for me, even though my reservation was confirmed. After a 24-hour journey, I arrived in Santiago to be told the booking had been cancelled on my end. It hadn't. I called Wyndham customer service right away, and two different representatives confirmed that it was active and valid. I'd booked this one-night stay more than SIX MONTHS ahead, so being left without somewhere to sleep in a foreign city was incredibly stressful and completely unprofessional. A confirmed booking should mean you have a room. This is a management failure, and guests shouldn't have to bear the cost of it. If you need reliability and peace of mind while travelling, I'd choose another property. Here, a confirmation doesn't guarantee a room.

The restaurant was the letdown. The meals looked nicely arranged and the waiters were kind and fun, but the food was cheap and bad. Our hamburgers were mushy and tasteless, the hot chocolate had about as little flavor, and the “chocolate mousse” was just cheap, wobbly pudding from a mini market, squeezed from its plastic container onto a plate with flowers and sauce. There's not much else in the area, so we ate dinner at the hotel, but I'd eat somewhere else next time. We stayed one night before flying to Canada and liked the big, comfortable bed and spacious, clean room. The ceilings were as high as a cathedral's, which was cool but a bit unnecessary. Service was great, and the free airport bus took us at 4:30 am, right on time with no problems.

Friendly staff, and the room was comfortable and reasonably quiet, though it wasn't very clean. The location is great for the airport. Portions of food were a little small, while the wine pours were generous. Airport transfers are advisable, but there are restrictions that weren't mentioned before booking.

The restaurant bar had seats, but no drinks were available there. There was just one bartender, handling room service and restaurant orders, and after waiting 25 minutes we gave up, as did other customers. The reception greeting was warm, and the hotel is modern with nice appointments. It's close to the airport, about a 10 to 15 minute transfer. But rooms facing the main road get traffic noise all night. That should have been addressed.
