Gran Pacifico

There’s a huge, comfortable king bed, and the dining hall has an amazing view of the bay. The hotel is very nice, right in Puerto Montt city center, with a great bay view and very friendly staff.

I've stayed here twice, several years apart, and I'm very happy with that choice. The restaurant is really good and has a beautiful view, especially from the top floor. It's in a very good position, the service is excellent, and reception took care of every request quickly.

The restaurant has a great view, but our experience with the food was poor, despite the good reviews people seem to post. This is an old, tired hotel that needs a massive upgrade, and I can't see how it could be considered four stars. The rooms are musty and damp; there's mould on the bathroom tiles and grout, and the hallway carpet is old and stained. The main car park seems to be shared with a department store that occupies a few hotel floors, and there's a long queue to get in. It's easy to criticize, but most local hotels seem to get bad reviews. Perhaps the large turnover of transient tourists means they don't have to try very hard.

We were only passing through Puerto Montt on the way to Puerto Natales, so we didn't spend much time there. The hotel was clean and nice. We arrived late and left in the morning, so we couldn't do laundry, but the dining area was nice, with a large breakfast buffet overlooking the water.
