Altiplanico Puerto Natales

It’s quiet and peaceful, and some people might find it quaint, but it wasn’t for us. The distance from restaurants and shops was inconvenient. The rooms were okay and had a beautiful view, though they felt extremely rustic. There’s no TV or fridge, and the in-room WiFi was terrible. We do a lot of planning from our room, so poor WiFi was a major disappointment, especially in 2026. The heated floor, tile over concrete, did make the temperature comfortable. This was my second time in Puerto Natales, and the hotel didn’t come close to Costa Australis, where I stayed last time.

The restaurant was the highlight for us. We had some of our best meals in Patagonia there, and they had great vegetarian options. The common areas are also excellent for getting online, since WiFi doesn’t reach the rooms, understandably, given the concrete structure. The interior architecture is distinctive and the views are great, even if the outside is much less impressive. The rooms are nice, with heated bathroom floors. We visited during unusually warm weather, and ventilation was limited to a small window and the bathroom. Still, it’s a really great place.

The WiFi is really poor, and we had no cellular data signal in the rooms either. That was a problem because we needed internet for work and personal matters. Otherwise, it’s a wonderful hotel with lovely views, a nice location in town, and a great restaurant. The staff are very nice and always willing to help.

I was put in a room reached only by stairs, with a very low bed and internet that didn’t work. I’ve stayed here before and knew there were other rooms. I explained that I needed a higher bed because of a back problem and asked reception to move me, but she didn’t try to help or suggest anything. She just said the hotel was fully booked and sent me away, even though there were maybe five cars in the parking area. Breakfast had no vegetables, only scrambled eggs. When I asked for a fried egg, they refused. Their attitude was really disappointing this time. It’s a pity.
