Casa Azul Hostel

I was lucky the owner found me a bed at the last minute, even though nearly every hostel in town was full. I really appreciated that. The house sits in a quiet central spot, with a garden, a cozy shared area, and one of the cleanest kitchens I've come across on the road. It has more private rooms than dorms, but it's still a great option for backpackers. I'd happily stay again.

We spent a full week here and had a great time. The common areas are lovely, the room was very good, and the rustic feel with great music gives the place an incredible atmosphere. The staff were warm and attentive, often checking that everything was okay. You can walk almost anywhere in 10 minutes, or get to the beach in about 15. And don't miss the two little staff members, a cute gray cat and a sausage dog who'll be there to greet you. I'd definitely come back to Puerto Varas.

The garden and koi pond make for a wonderfully private, green setting, and we loved meeting Andreas's two dogs and cat. We had lots of hot water, and our room, the box, was comfortable, with a great mattress and pillows and its own bathroom. Andreas and his family run a lovely, clean hostel with everything well equipped. We enjoyed it enough to extend our stay by two days. The kitchen is laid out efficiently and kept clean, with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and even a salad spinner. We'd stay again and highly recommend Hostel Casa Azul for a visit to Puerto Varas.

Breakfast in the garden, watching the koi carp in the pond, was the highlight for me. The common rooms are cozy, and there's a large dining room with a TV. The kitchen was spotless and had knives that actually cut, the best I've found in a hostel. I was fortunate to stay here for the last two nights and hope to add another. It feels more like staying in the owner's beautiful home than a regular hostel, with his lovely cat and dog around. The house is immaculate and has all the facilities, almost like a hotel. I'd come back without hesitation.
