We got a much-needed early check-in and rest after 24 hours of flights, which made this a perfect start to our Antarctica trip. We needed somewhere close to the Dreams hotel, where our expedition included a night before departure, but it wasn’t available for the preceding days. This hotel was very convenient and clean, and breakfast had a great range of foods you’d find in Europe and North America. The beds were quite nice, but the bathroom needs some care. The shower curtain was a cheap bit of plastic that kept sticking to me, and the strangely placed shower head made it hard to get under. The water was lukewarm at best. I don’t think I had a single hot shower. Everything else worked well for our stay, but the shower setup was pretty bad.

We loved the waterfront view from our sea-view room, and the hotel is conveniently close to both the city center and bus terminal. There’s a simple gym for a workout, and you can jog along the waterfront just across the road. Breakfast was excellent, too. Boris, the manager, and the reception staff were welcoming and helpful. The rooms are large and comfortable, and many look out over the water. Clean rooms, decent food, and a pleasant atmosphere make this a good-value three-star hotel, popular with tour groups. The hotel sits right across from the Strait of Magellan. Its exterior, reception, and public spaces are pretty bland.

The rooms are clean, and the location is great. Breakfast is basic but good. Whoever put the hair dryers in the rooms must never have tried using them, or they’d know they’re useless.
