Aji Verde Hostel San Pedro

The staff made me feel welcome right away. There’s lots of room across the grounds to swim, relax, read, study, or get some work done. The bar and restaurant are both affordable and serve delicious food. They’re far enough from the dorms that noise wasn’t a problem.

The food was the standout for me, especially the Empanadas, which were the best I had anywhere in South America. It was also incredibly affordable compared with the rest of Atacama. Honestly, they could charge more for it. The place has a beautiful setting, good vibes and people, and a really nice owner. For what you get, it’s very affordable.

Alejandra’s cooking is amazing, and you should try her Empanadas. The outdoor common area is beautiful, and the staff are super friendly. Our private room, though, cost 60k per night and had a bad bed, mold on the ceiling, and no privacy because its only window opened onto the shared area by the toilet. The communal kitchen was really dirty, especially the fridges, even though staff cleaned it in the morning. Most travelers left their mess around and nobody said anything. It wasn’t a terrible stay, but what we got felt pricey.

The staff were the biggest highlight for me. They were amazing, helpful, and did a lot to make me feel at home. I also liked how many comfortable places there were to sit and hang out, whether I wanted to meet people or read quietly. The rooms were clean, modern, and well looked after, and the atmosphere felt great from the moment I arrived. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in.
