A very nice place to stay for a reasonable price - hotel "Casa San Marcos 663" is located in San Pedro de Atacama. This hotel is located minutes away from the city center.

The room was clean, and the accommodation is a little south of the city center and close to the bus terminal. I’d have given it five stars, but the staff came across as nearly too strict and grumpy. In more than eight months of traveling, this was the first time we weren’t allowed to leave our luggage until late afternoon on checkout day.
I paid $45 for a double room, and it was cash only. The place felt like poor value: there was no breakfast, the kitchen was lousy, and the common area was dreary. It was worn and badly maintained, with peeling paint, shoddy door locks, a makeshift path, a cold shower and overflowing garbage with used toilet paper. There was no sign on the door or tour desk. At 4 pm I spent 15 minutes ringing, knocking and calling. The phone number on Google Maps was wrong, and I only found out the person in the store next door was reception after asking there. The Wi-Fi was so bad I had to use my mobile data for Skype. I stayed one night because Hostal Campo Base next door was full with a large group returning from Uyuni and couldn’t extend my stay. Compared with this place, Hostal Campo Base is paradise. Save yourself the mediocrity and stay somewhere else.
The room was basic but clean, and the staff were okay. The kitchen was nice, though getting a hot shower was difficult.
The hostel was clean and comfortable, but I had some trouble finding it. They should at least put a sign on the front door.
Wi-Fi was bad, and it felt expensive for a place without breakfast. It’s 1.5 km from the center.
