The pool, shared spaces, nightly events and easy tour bookings made it easy to meet people, and my private room was cozy. Most of the place was kept up well, the resident dog and cat were a nice bonus, and most of the staff were lovely and helpful, including the owner, cooking team, newer receptionist and overnight receptionist. The main female receptionist was unhelpful when I needed a replacement PDI, then made several rude remarks when I went to pay my bill a few days later. After I paid for refillable water, I used a plastic bottle because my eco-friendly one had broken, and the male receptionist made me feel judged. His manner was so unwelcoming that I felt uncomfortable going to reception for days. By the end, I couldn't wait to leave.

Everything was very clean, and the staff were helpful. There were lots of comfortable places to hang out, especially around the pool. We had a private room near the dog kennel, but people tried to enter it three times, apparently mistaking it for the bathroom or reception. Since the room has no name or number, adding one might prevent the mix-ups.

The hostel dinners and the range of trips and events made it easy to feel at home, and there were travelers from all over. I'd say it's the best hostel in San Pedro, especially if you're traveling solo.

That dusty desert dog and the cute Cate were a real treat. I stayed four nights and was happy to have such a nice place to return to after the very dusty Atacama. Muy bueno. Paulette was especially great. I must have asked her eight million annoying questions, and she always had helpful answers. Muy Bruno.

I would've stayed longer, but it was fully booked. Such a sociable hostel. A shout-out to Vati and, of course, the sweet hostel dog.
