Hotel Yakana

The price feels fair for what you get, and the location is decent. If you're leaving early for a tour, they'll prepare food so you don't miss breakfast. The walls are thin.

The one thing I can say in its favor is that it was quite clean. We arrived at Yakana around 7 pm and were put in a 12-square-meter room, with no space for a suitcase, instead of the 18-square-meter room we'd booked. I called the owner, who kept insisting I was mistaken and hadn't booked a deluxe superior room. Even after I sent screenshots of the booking confirmation, he said his system was right. After telling me I was wrong about six times, I was very tense, and he told me to contact booking and sort it out myself. We've spent 200 nights in hotels this year and have never had a hotel manager treat us like that. There was no sense of hospitality. In the end, we contacted booking ourselves. They tried reaching the owner several times that evening. He eventually replied that he doesn't speak English, even though the welcome message you get when booking is in English. Booking had to find a Spanish-speaking employee to handle the issue. With booking's help, he agreed to refund 10% of the money. I then had to ask him twice to pay it. Carla is the woman responsible for everything there, including cooking, reception, and cleaning. At first we thought she was quite rude, but honestly, I just feel sorry for her. She works day and night, there's no daylight or window to look outside anywhere on the property, not in the rooms or kitchen, and she even lives in one of the small rooms.

Carla is always around to help, and the service is just perfect. The place feels cozy and is simple and clean. The rooms are quite small, but they're enough if all you need is somewhere to sleep and rest. 😀

The service is good, even though one woman is responsible for looking after all the rooms every day. It's a very good place, but the rooms feel quite small if you're traveling with kids.
